Shane Lowry went into the final round of the 2019 British Open atop the leaderboard with a four stroke lead and finished the day expanding his lead by two, giving Shane his first major golf tournament win. Lowry shot a final round 72, capping off a -15 under par overall score. Tommy Fleetwood finished in second place after shooting a 74 and -9 overall. Tony Finau finished third after a final round score of 71. Notably J.B. Holmes began the day at -10 but ended up turning in a final round of +16, dropping him from 3rd place to tied for 67th.
2019 British Open - Round 3 Highlights
Shane Lowry took a commanding lead after 54 holes into the 2019 British Open, turning in a day-best 63 and a -16 under par overall tally so far. Lowry holds a 4-stroke lead over second place Tommy Fleetwood, who shot a solid 66 in the third round. J.B. Holmes lost his top of the leaderboard status he enjoyed in the first two rounds, dropping to third after shooting a 69 and -10 overall going into the final round. Brooks Koepka and Justin Rose are 7 strokes off the lead and tied for fourth after turning in a day score of 69 and 67 respectively.

J.B. Holmes and Shane Lowry remained atop the leaderboard after 36 holes at the British Open. Holmes shot a 68 and Lowry a 67 to tie for -8 under par overall. Tommy Fleetwood and Lee Westwood finished just behind them, both turning in 67s and tied for second at -7 overall. Jordan Spieth's 67 brought him back into contention with a -5 overall and tournament favorite Rory redeemed his abysmal opening day 79 with a 65 on day 2, though it wasn't enough and Rory missed the weekend cut by a single stroke. Tiger and Mickelson notably also missed the cut.

Round 1 of the British Open kicked off on what many revere as a challenging course for even the most experience golfers in the world. The leader board was chalk-full of former Ryder Cup golfers, on both sides of the pond. J.B. Holmes came out to be a surprising leader after shooting 5 under 66. Shane Lowry came in second with 4 under par. Brooks Koepka, who caught some attention shared the lead at one point in the day with Webb Simpson, Sergio Garcia and Jon Rahm. Arguably the two most watched trailed with Rory Mcllroy shooting a 79 and Tiger Woods shooting a 78.
